Emily Ellis | Waco Senior Photographer

I don’t want to choose favorites buuuut, Emily’s session was possibly my favorite senior session to date! I loved her energy, her adorable outfits, and her willingness to endure the frigid cold during her photos! I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with such incredible clients like Emily!! Check out some of my favorite photos from her session!

The Caroline Logan Workshop Recap

One day I was scrolling through Instagram when one of Caroline Logan’s photos popped up in my feed. I’ve been following Caroline’s work for awhile now and admire her beautiful work and the way she runs her business so much. I decided to look on her website to see if she had any sort of business mentoring available, and in the process of doing that, I came across her workshop! As I skimmed through the information about it and saw there were still spots available, I immediately called my parents to make sure they were cool with it if I skipped a couple days of school to go. My parents, being the incredible people they are, were totally on board and encouraged me to sign up right away!

What to Wear for Your Senior Portrait Session

I don’t know about you, but picking out the perfect outfit to wear for a special occasion stresses the heck out of me! I’m totally fine picking out an outfit to wear to class, chapter meetings, or church, but choosing something to wear to a friend’s wedding or to formal is a whole other thing. And if you’re anything like me, picking out my outfits for my senior pictures was one of those stressful moments.

How to Create a Cohesive Instagram Feed

I wanted to tackle the whole cohesive Instagram feed because it's something that has been SUCH a struggle for me and one that I just recently felt like I’ve sorta gotten a handle on (and I've by no means reached the level of cohesiveness I desire for my feed)! I used to think that editing everything using the same settings or preset was enough to make my feed look cohesive, but I just kept coming away disappointed. There's actually a whole lot more that goes into it!

Rebecca & Daniel's Austin, Texas Wedding

One of my favorite things that Rebecca told us as she was getting ready in the morning was that she and Daniel were texting each other saying, "Hey, what are you doing today? Wanna get married?" I mean, how cute is that!!! It was so beautiful seeing how excited all of their friends and family were for them to take this next step in their relationship, and I’m so glad I got to play a small role in their special day. Congrats, Becca & Daniel!

Six Reasons You Should Take College Senior Photos

To be totally honest, I didn’t know college senior photos were even a thing until I started getting approached my sophomore year by girls in my sorority who wanted me to take their graduation photos! But after 2 years of being booked solid during senior photo season, I actually wonder why more people aren’t making them a priority!

Shayna + Rebecca's Best Friend Senior Photos

I took Shayna's engagement photos several months prior to this, so I was so excited when she contacted me again about taking her graduation photos, along with her best friend, Rebecca! I actually love it when best friends or sisters decide to share a photo shoot because who doesn't love getting more cute pics with their bff??!

Roots Boutique | Lifestyle + Commercial Session Spotlight

I get a lot of questions about what it is I do for Roots Boutique and what all these photo shoots look like. Basically, we spend a couple of hours every couple of weeks driving to various locations around Waco—they bring the clothes, and I pick out the locations and take the photos.

How to Edit Photos on Your iPhone + A Free Preset!

I'll be the first to admit that I rarely carry my DSLR camera around with me these days. It's pretty bulky and heavy, and I just don't feel like making my arms do all that extra work. As someone who tends to opt for my iPhone camera for everyday life, and someone who runs multiple Instagram accounts (my own, my dog's, my sorority's, etc.), being able to edit my photos easily on my phone is a must.

Rachel's Downtown Waco Senior Session

Now that summer is here and I finished my summer classes, I'm finally getting around to blogging all the sessions I had throughout the spring semester. It was a busy season, but such a wonderful one! This spring was my busiest yet, and though it was overwhelming at times, I am so grateful for all the wonderful clients I got to work with.

Kennedy + Jarrett's Romantic Proposal

I met Kennedy through my photo shoots for Roots Boutique earlier this year, and every time she talked about her boyfriend, Jarrett, her face just lit up (she clearly loves him so much!). They'd been dating for several years at this point, and everyone knew it was just a matter of time when they would get engaged.

I Used to Be a Terrible Photographer

Sometimes I get so frustrated with my photography. I’ll scroll through Instagram and see photo after photo from photographers who I deeply admire, then immediately start comparing my work to theirs. We are always our worst critic, so I’m sure you can imagine that the whole comparison thing doesn’t really make me feel too good about my work. I think it’s a really great thing to find inspiration in other photographers’ work, but we seem to forget that they once were beginners. They once took horrible photos or put an ugly preset on a photo or couldn’t quite master focusing.

10 Tips for Preparing for Your Senior Session

As I was in the midst of senior photo season this past spring semester (a.k.a. the most hectic time of the year), I thought back to my (high school) senior photos. While most of the girls I photograph around this time of year are 4 years older than I was back then and were graduating from college instead of high school, the process is still a pretty stressful one. How do you know what outfits to wear? What all do you need to bring with you? How do you communicate what you're wanting from your photographer?

Don't Let the Darkness Silence You

I wrote this post my freshman year of college when I was in the midst of a season of pretty severe anxiety. Since I published it on my old blog which doesn't get used very often, I thought I would move it over to this site. It's still so relevant, and I still need to be reminded of the things God was teaching me back then.

Victory in Christ

I have absolutely loved my time so far in college, but I must say, it’s brought some not-so-positive characteristics of mine to the surface. Characteristics that weren’t so noticeable in high school have been intensified in college, probably brought on by the lack of sleep and way too much caffeine. I sometimes find myself impatient, judgmental, apathetic to the struggles of others, and many other things I don’t want to admit. God in his grace reveals those things to me, leading me to repentance, but I’m still not proud of those ugly parts of my heart.
